I suspect that we experience ideas such as Sugru just a few times a lifetime. The impact will be as widespread as any and all of the flawed physical designs that we are now empowered to easily repair ourselves. This is one milestone towards a future of innovation that does not lay waste to the past.
If you haven't experienced Sugru yet, get some. You will find that many of your previously impossible to fix gadgets take on an entirely new life, that defects become opportunities, and that you always were a hacker at heart. You just needed the right tools.
The following photos journal a few of my Sugru hack from the last couple of months. Hack the future!
Description from Wikipedia:
Sugru is the brand name for a patented, multi-purpose, non-slumping variant of silicone that resembles modeling clay. It is available in four colors (black, blue, orange and green), is malleable when removed from its airtight and moisture-proof packaging, retains its plasticity for thirty minutes, is self-adhesive (to many metals, glass, ceramic, plastics),[1] and self-cures at room temperature after approximately 24 hours. After curing, Sugru retains a 'soft touch' or slightly flexible, grippy surface[2][3] and is waterproof, dishwasher-safe,[4]temperature-stable between -60 and 180 degrees C,[5] as well as electrically and thermally insulating. The product has a shelf life of six months.[6]
